NCCA has run our popular John Mott Memorial track familiarization and sprint weekend and round of the group 5 speed event series at Sandown International Raceway.
Saturday 17th July circuit familiarization day saw a field of 59 entrants, who enjoyed a dry, but cold mid July's day. Many participants took advantage of the opportunity to show passengers, sponsors and the like, the experience and thrill of driving at speed on Melbourne's premier permanent racing facility, in a safe and well controlled environment. Most competitors received more than one hour of track time.
The competition began on Sunday 18th July with the sprint sessions. A relatively small field of 43 cars vied for outright and class results. Everyone got the chance to have 4 dry sessions before rain started, at which time the track became very
slippery. Competitive sessions continued in the wet conditions - a lot of fun was had by a few of our more intrepid competitors. A competitor's aggregate of their quickest 6 individual times for the day counts to results. Congratulations to class winners!
